Do it for the kids everywhere

Our ultimate aim is to halt global warming. Specifically we are educating people in the US and around the world that the climate crisis is both urgent and solvable.

WE is a growing number of people who believe we can solve this. Not just as individuals with strong beliefs but as part of a group where our strength makes governments and corporations change.WE can put our planet on a new path. Clean energy solutions are out there waiting. Solutions that will not only save our planet but help rebuild our economy.WE can lead.

Do your part and help Mother Nature out. She has been very good to us ~ Heidi

Take the time..............
The art of mothering is to teach the art of living to children

The most important thing she'd learned over the years was that there was no way to be a perfect mother and a million ways to be a good one.

Ari is home
Ari came home on Thursday. We've been really busy and haven't been near a computer. I'm glad to report that everything is going GREAT! We love having both boys home. As much as we liked the nurses at the hospital it's been wonderful not having to go and see Ari there. We've been doing great, both g-dmothers came to hang out with the boys over the weekend. It was nice because we were able to get things done around the house. We've moved into our new kitchen which is amazing there are times when we just hang out in there because of how nice it is to have a place to sit and hang other than the living room. We gave the boys baths in the new kitchen for the first time the other night. I go back to work tomorrow so I'll post pictures from there. We have some pretty cute pictures. I'm really excited to be a mom it's so wonderful. I didn't realize how different I would look at life after becoming a mom! Well we're at Papa and Grandma's right now so I'll post again tomorrow!

WELCOME HOME NOAH!!!
Noah came home today. He's doing great, he got to meet Tucker (our beagle) and they love each other Tucker has already taken to sleeping under the Crib! It's so cute! I'll be posting pictures of that soon. We've shut down our computer and taken it apart so all posts will be done from work. So please forgive me if it takes a bit to get stuff up. Ari is having issues taking a bottle he doesn't seem to be able to get the coordination down yet. They do have all of his discharge paperwork ready for when he's taking the bottle. They say it shouldn't be to much longer. Hopefully he'll come home while I'm off work next week. I hope everyone is doing well. Please feel free to give us a call after this weekend. My mom and Brother will be here starting tonight but are going home on Monday. So if you want to call feel free.

Have a great weekend,
Mommy Shannon

Update for Feb. 28th
Hello everyone, I sure miss all of you. I had 2 BETAMETHASONE steriod shots. One yesterday and one today. Betamethasone is often used in patients with premature labor at about 26–34 weeks' gestation to stimulate fetal lung maturation.
I am also having BPP testing twice a week on Tuesday and Fridays. The biophysical profile (BPP) is a noninvasive test that predicts the presence or absence of fetal asphyxia and, ultimately, the risk of fetal death in the antenatal period. When the BPP identifies a compromised fetus, measures can be taken to intervene before progressive metabolic acidosis leads to fetal death.

The BPP combines data from two sources, ie, ultrasound imaging and fetal heart rate (FHR) monitoring. Dynamic realtime B-mode ultrasound is used to measure the amniotic fluid volume (AFV) and to observe several types of fetal movement. The FHR is obtained using a pulsed Doppler transducer integrated with a high-speed microprocessor, which provides a continuously updated reading.

The BPP integrates 5 parameters to yield a biophysical profile score (BPS) and includes (1) the nonstress test (NST), (2) ultrasound measurement of the AFV, (3) observation of the presence or absence of fetal breathing movements, (4) gross body movements, and (5) tone.

The BPP allows 2 points for each parameter that is present, yielding a maximum score of 10; however, if all the ultrasound variable findings are normal, the FHR variable may be excluded because no change is made in the predicative accuracy of the BPP by including the FHR. If one or more ultrasound variable findings are abnormal, the NST should be performed.

A basic principle of antepartum testing is that a more accurate prediction of fetal wellness is achieved in direct proportion to the number of variables considered. The BPP is a clinical tool that integrates levels of dynamic biophysical activities into a useable standard. The BPP allows 2 points for each parameter that is present, yielding a maximum score of 10; however, if all ultrasound variables are normal, the FHR variable may be excluded because no change is made in the predictive accuracy of the BPP by including the FHR. If one or more ultrasound variable is abnormal, the NST should be performed.

Both boys got a 10 out of 10 yesterday. I was so happy. Ari is weighing in at 3.5lbs and Noah at 2.1lbs. Being home is hard. The beagles love it though. We sleep a lot. Sure miss work though. I promise to start posting more. It has just been hard getting use to all this. Thank you for all the support and I hope to hear for you guys soon. Heidi

2/05/2008
This morning was great, Heidi was in a great mood she had a shake before I left. The last time I talked to her she was getting ready to take a nap. YAY! Last night I got to feel another wrestling match in her belly! It was cool. Tonight, work till 5:00 leave go to BIL (Brother-in-law)house do books, come home clean kitchen finsish laundry make dinner and then head to the shower and bed! So it's the same as normal just I get to go to my BIL house first!

I wanted to say thank you to that very special person that emailed me kind words of encouragement from Medtronic. You're the sweetest! The girls at Medtronic are so great, they have taken such good care of Heidi and been such great friends that I've actually heard how much she misses work. So thanks everyone!

Well back to work, hopefully babies are growing.

Today. . .
So today was good, Heidi seemed to be in high spirits. It's good to see her happy even though she's in a situation that she's in. I feel for her, but at the same time it's rough man! I have finished a lot of projects. Last night was so cool, Heidi was sitting on the couch and had me come put my hand on her stomach, I felt Noah like karate chop her it was so cool!! I couldn't believe it, I mean our little guy so strong. I hope he's doing well. I can't wait to find out. Well that's all I have to go make Heidi another shake.

Have a good night everyone,
Shannon

Some updates before I clean more
So Heidi is in bed right now she's having a rough time with this laying around thing. She's doing a good job but she's having trouble so I decided to set up the computer right next to her recliner. She can now recline and play games, post on the blog, get on the internet or do what ever she wants. I figure I'll go buy her some new games this coming weekend when my mom and dad are here because they usually want to go to the mall of america. I can't believe I haven't been there in almost a year. I think the last time we were there was when my parents were here last year. So other than that not much is happening right now. I'm going to teach Heidi how to update the blog later so maybe there will be some posts from her soon.

Now that Heidi is on bed rest I'll make sure to keep this updated so people at her work know what's going on. Thank you to the girls who called yesterday and who visited with Heidi on the phone while I was at the store. It kept her from wanting to get up.

Updates :( Not Great
So, I apologize for not updating the page this weekend. It got a little hectic; we had an appointment with a specialist yesterday. That wasn’t so great. We found out that Noah is a lot smaller than Ari, who is right on track. Ari weighs 2.5lbs and Noah only weighs 1.8lbs. The specialist has put Heidi on strict bed rest. She’s to get up only to go to the rest room and to take a shower other than that she’s not allowed to do anything. After some research I learned that this is called IUGR (Intrauterine Growth Restriction) most babies are OK as long as it’s caught and precautions are taken. - Dr. said that Noah is in the 5-10 percentile

Definition of IUGR
The most widely used definition of IUGR is a fetus whose estimated weight is below the 10th percentile for its gestational age and whose abdominal circumference is below the 2.5th percentile. At term, the cutoff birth weight for IUGR is 2,500 g (5 lb, 8 oz). Growth percentiles for fetal weight versus gestational age are shown in Figure 1. Approximately 70 percent of fetuses with a birth weight below the 10th percentile for gestational age are constitutionally small8; in the remaining 30 percent, the cause of IUGR is pathologic.

So the Dr. said lots of water and protein because that’s supposed to help blood flow. It looks like when he implanted he didn’t do a good job at it and so there for he’s small. His cord isn’t in the most nutrient enriched place so they have to find a way to push more nutrients to him. One way that was suggested was a LA Z Boy chair. Ours arrives tomorrow. Hopefully that will help him a lot. They say that it’s one of the best positions to be in because it actually allows blood flow to increase. Her feet will be up but she’ll still be in a reclining position. Her mom bought it for us. Well OK so she bought it for Heidi but still you get what I mean. I hated coming to work today because it was her first day on bed rest. It’s bothering me having to be here while she’s at home. I love her to death but I don’t trust her when it comes to this because it goes against everything Heidi has ever been taught. I mean I know she’ll do it but this is going to be the biggest challenge yet. So we’re just going to have to keep an eye on things and get lots of help from mom and dad and family. I’m working so I can’t be there during the day but her dad said that he’d be more than happy to bring her over lunch everyday and I’ll just cook every night. My issue is I can’t leave until I’ve seen her eat in the morning, I don’t feel comfortable leaving until I know she’s had something. I know it’s silly. She has a cooler of water and clear pop, crackers, peanuts, sunflower seeds. So hopefully she’s at home snacking. She said her and Noah had a talk last night and she explained to him that if she had to get fat so did he lol. She’s so sweet. She’s totally worried about me because she is worried about everything I’ve had to take on. But I think I can do it and if I can’t I’ll ask for help. So there is an update on Noah and Ari. I’ll post pictures as soon as I can I don’t have access to a scanner right now that isn’t totally out of the way and I don’t have enough hours in the day to go out of my way. Sorry. I’ll get them up soon I promise.

I'm at work this weekend it kinda is fun though because I've met a lot of people that I have talked to but never seen. Yesterday I went home to a painted basement Eric will be back over to finish the basement and the ceiling in the babies room. Then we'll finish up painting that room and then go to the store and order our carpet. We've picked everything out for the bathroom now the rest of it is slowly coming together.

So we went to the Dr yesterday things look good. Heidi has another appointment on Thursday to have some tests done. I hope and pray everything is great. They looked so big yesterday. I can't wait. We're down to 189 days!!! It seems like time is flying and then going slow then flying.

I'm excited it's fall!!! Heidi and I always have so much fun in the fall it's like our season. Today we're on our last day of the 200's of pregnancy. I know it seems silly that I keep track like this but it's really exciting to me. Heidi and I argued last night, but for some reason as we were arguing I couldn't stop laughing and grinning so it kinda killed that and we ended up laughing and having a great night. I her enjoyed company greatly. People say she should be moody but ( Can't believe I'm going to admit this) she really hasn't been bad. I mean she has days but who the heck doesn't. I'm shocked, I love it though because it means I get to enjoy her pregnancy. Which I really am. But why in the world is the gestation period of a woman so DARN LONG!!! LOL. Well Heidi Ann I love you very much I hope you're having a wonderful day.

See you at home love,

Shannon

I am so excited that we only have just over 200 days left of the pregnancy. I want to see our babies. I'm so excited. I have to honestly say Heidi has been great through out all of this. I mean she gets pouty but she never pushes it she never takes it to far. Today we started to get into a argument and it ended up being funny! I love us right now. We're so close. Heidi I hope you have a wonderful day. I love you. Shannon

Interesting morning
So I slept until 1:00 today. However that wasn't a straight through sleep. Poor Heidi got sick this morning really bad and well I got up with her. She really wasn't feeling well. Then I waited until she fell back to sleep on the couch before I went back to bed so I was up for a couple of hours. I was worried she's had a really bad headache for 2 days now. She's currently sleeping she hasn't been up but for those couple of hours in the wee morning today. It's so amazing to me that she's sleeping this much but what else is there really for her to do? I mean I do all the cleaning because she can't be around chemicals. And we like to stay home on the weekends so it's either watch TV or go to sleep I'm glad she's chosen sleep. I have to go get breaks soon. I have about 3 hours of work I have to get done then laundry, dishes and cleaning the bathroom. In the mean time I think I'll try and let her sleep as long as she needs to. I guess I'm kinda just babbling now. :P We were supposed to go to a wedding today that we both really wanted to go to but she's so sick that I don't feel right waking her up to go. I know that might upset some of the girls at Heidi's work but I'm sorry she's pregnant and much more pleasant when she wakes up on her own :P I'm sure the wedding will be a blast I hope everyone has a great time. I'm off to do some work!

Where is the belly button
So last night was nice and relaxing I think we were in bed a little after 8:00. We didn't do much because Heidi was super tired. She still is though because the cat kept her awake most of the night. However before I fell asleep I noticed something. The turkey timer is about to pop soon!!! Her belly button is so shallow. I wonder how long it takes before it actually pops. It was so funny when I discovered this I was shocked. We have a Dr's appointment on the 22nd we're we'll get more pictures. I can't wait for that. This waiting thing is taking forever!!! LOL. 2 more trimesters to go and I'm already complaining about how long it's taking Oh well. Have a great day everyone.

Surprises for Momma Heidi
So Heidi's in class and I decided that it would be a great idea to go to the body shop. I got her lotion and body wash and I got her coca butter since well she seems to be getting small strech marks right now. So I figured that would help. I also go her a cashmire (not sure if that's spelt right) washcloth that's supposed to be very gentle on a sore, sensitive body. So I'm hoping she loves it. I've got the hotel room picked up and a strawberry candle going so it smells good when she gets back. I'm excited for her to get back from class and see what adventures lie for today!!! Have a great day everyone.

St. Louis
So we've made it to St. Louis Heidi did great on the plane. Not that I didn't think she would but with her being pregnant it was a first for both of us. She ran my butt ragged LOL. So we had a great day we went to the Arch and we're going to hang out a bit more tomorrow and then we're going to the brewery. It will be a lot of fun I think because I've never been and I know that Heidi has been and she loved it. The babies seem to be fine. Heidi's been trying to hide it but she's been having a slight amount of pain on her one side. From 2 cysts on her left ovary, one measuring about 4cm and one messuring about 3cm. We need to keep an eye on that. I'm sure she'll be fine though. The doctors don't seem to think that it's going to be a big deal. I think they are expecting it to be able to go down on its own. I am expecting the same thing because oncce the drs expect something that's what I expect I sometimes wonder if that's odd?? Well I hope everyone back in MSP is doing well. I know that we're having a great time but can't wait to come home because we can't wait to go to 2 harbors!!! Well everyone have a great night. I'm thinking it's time to go to bed.

Stupid Mommy Shannon
It’s Mommy Shannon, so did you ever have one of those days where you know that you should shut up but you can’t well I did the other day. I was such a jack A$$ I should have shut my mouth when given the chance but didn’t and ended up hurting Heidi’s feelings. I’m a moron and I take full credit for that. I just could get myself to stop throwing one liners or giving her dirty looks. I’m putting it out here for all to see I’m a jack A$$. However last night was a much better night and tonight will be even better because tomorrow we find out how our little peanut(s) are doing! I’m so excited. Maybe we’ll have pictures I can upload to the blog. Well I’m out of here. I love you Heidi and I’m sorry I was a butthead.

Long Weekend
So it's been a good weekend. Heidi's had an interesting weekend though! She tried to eat a hamburger, and well it didn't go so well. She got sick, she also has slept all weekend. She feels bad but she shouldn't because it makes me excited to see her showing signs of pregnancy. I mean it's like I'm not the one going through it so I don't know what happening but when she gets tired or doesn't eat something she doesn't like it reminds me what's going on inside. It's a great thing. We got somethings done around the house and other than that things were really quiet. She's starting to get sensitive to smells and food. I hope that things are progessing well. I can't wait until the 27th, it's only 24 more days!!! I got the grass mowed and laundry done I feel like that's all I've done all weekend other than play my video game but I know it's not. Well I'm going to see how Heidi's doing down stairs I think she might be sleeping again :P

I'm going to make sure she's got stuff to take, and maybe do some baby shopping this afternoon. We'll see though. I really can't wait to find out if we're pregnant, she's so stuffy. Today is the 10th, it's been a rough week not knowing if we're pregnant or not. We're trying to keep positive and not worry to much. We have one test next week to tell us about pregesterone and then we have our prenancy test in 2 weeks on the 22 of August. I hope that things turn out perfect for us. I have a great feeling about this. I'll be pulling the myspace posts this weekend.

New Blog
Hey this is our new blog for Baby Fust, we will be tracking our progress on our little peanut. I hope and pray that we'll have a positive prengancy test soon. We'll find out in a couple of weeks. Progress on the nursery is coming along. I will be pulling the posts from myspace and putting them here so everyone can see.
