| Update for Feb. 28th |
Hello everyone, I sure miss all of you. I had 2 BETAMETHASONE steriod shots. One yesterday and one today. Betamethasone is often used in patients with premature labor at about 26–34 weeks' gestation to stimulate fetal lung maturation. I am also having BPP testing twice a week on Tuesday and Fridays. The biophysical profile (BPP) is a noninvasive test that predicts the presence or absence of fetal asphyxia and, ultimately, the risk of fetal death in the antenatal period. When the BPP identifies a compromised fetus, measures can be taken to intervene before progressive metabolic acidosis leads to fetal death.
The BPP combines data from two sources, ie, ultrasound imaging and fetal heart rate (FHR) monitoring. Dynamic realtime B-mode ultrasound is used to measure the amniotic fluid volume (AFV) and to observe several types of fetal movement. The FHR is obtained using a pulsed Doppler transducer integrated with a high-speed microprocessor, which provides a continuously updated reading.
The BPP integrates 5 parameters to yield a biophysical profile score (BPS) and includes (1) the nonstress test (NST), (2) ultrasound measurement of the AFV, (3) observation of the presence or absence of fetal breathing movements, (4) gross body movements, and (5) tone.
The BPP allows 2 points for each parameter that is present, yielding a maximum score of 10; however, if all the ultrasound variable findings are normal, the FHR variable may be excluded because no change is made in the predicative accuracy of the BPP by including the FHR. If one or more ultrasound variable findings are abnormal, the NST should be performed.
A basic principle of antepartum testing is that a more accurate prediction of fetal wellness is achieved in direct proportion to the number of variables considered. The BPP is a clinical tool that integrates levels of dynamic biophysical activities into a useable standard. The BPP allows 2 points for each parameter that is present, yielding a maximum score of 10; however, if all ultrasound variables are normal, the FHR variable may be excluded because no change is made in the predictive accuracy of the BPP by including the FHR. If one or more ultrasound variable is abnormal, the NST should be performed.
Both boys got a 10 out of 10 yesterday. I was so happy. Ari is weighing in at 3.5lbs and Noah at 2.1lbs. Being home is hard. The beagles love it though. We sleep a lot. Sure miss work though. I promise to start posting more. It has just been hard getting use to all this. Thank you for all the support and I hope to hear for you guys soon. Heidi |

This morning was great, Heidi was in a great mood she had a shake before I left. The last time I talked to her she was getting ready to take a nap. YAY! Last night I got to feel another wrestling match in her belly! It was cool. Tonight, work till 5:00 leave go to BIL (Brother-in-law)house do books, come home clean kitchen finsish laundry make dinner and then head to the shower and bed! So it's the same as normal just I get to go to my BIL house first!
I wanted to say thank you to that very special person that emailed me kind words of encouragement from Medtronic. You're the sweetest! The girls at Medtronic are so great, they have taken such good care of Heidi and been such great friends that I've actually heard how much she misses work. So thanks everyone!
Well back to work, hopefully babies are growing.

| Today. . . |
So today was good, Heidi seemed to be in high spirits. It's good to see her happy even though she's in a situation that she's in. I feel for her, but at the same time it's rough man! I have finished a lot of projects. Last night was so cool, Heidi was sitting on the couch and had me come put my hand on her stomach, I felt Noah like karate chop her it was so cool!! I couldn't believe it, I mean our little guy so strong. I hope he's doing well. I can't wait to find out. Well that's all I have to go make Heidi another shake.
Have a good night everyone, Shannon |

| Some updates before I clean more |
So Heidi is in bed right now she's having a rough time with this laying around thing. She's doing a good job but she's having trouble so I decided to set up the computer right next to her recliner. She can now recline and play games, post on the blog, get on the internet or do what ever she wants. I figure I'll go buy her some new games this coming weekend when my mom and dad are here because they usually want to go to the mall of america. I can't believe I haven't been there in almost a year. I think the last time we were there was when my parents were here last year. So other than that not much is happening right now. I'm going to teach Heidi how to update the blog later so maybe there will be some posts from her soon.
